That's what they do, you know. Hailey was bugging me this morning to go to the gym. I was going to a class that a sweet friend is teaching, but then I realized I couldn't do a lot of the workout because of my knees and hip. And it falls smack in the middle of the school day. So since I didn't ride in the sub-zero temperatures this morning, and since it was up to, like, 102 by noon, I sprung a bike ride on the kids. Now, I usually go alone in the morning while Shawn gets ready for work, but it has been too cold the past few days. I love having some alone time that I don't have to share with anyone. It can be all about me. I can plug in my Zune headphones and jam down the road, wind in my face and not a care in the world. I don't have to make sure anyone keeps up, and I am not trying to keep up with someone else. I just ride. And I love it. But today, I let the kids in on my fun, only to have them put a crimp in my style. They totally threw off my groove. Hailey wanted to ride her little 16 inch bike, instead of her big girl one. She likes it better. But what she didn't know, was that she has to pedal twice as fast to go the speed and distance Caleb and I can go. So her little legs were a-pumping as fast as she could pedal. She actually fell once, and didn't make a big scene. What a trooper. But I don't think I'll take them along very often. I like my freedom. And my groove. Theme song, please!
PS. We rode 4.3 miles today. Not bad for a rookie with two tag-alongs!
